Cutting the dough in the pan with a spatula makes getting these fluffy biscuits to the table that much quicker and easier!
2 1/2 cups White Lily Self Rising Flour
1/2 cup shortening or lard
1 cup buttermilk, plus a little more for tops
Preheat oven to 475F. Grease flat cast iron griddle with a little shortening. Add self rising flour to a medium bowl and add shortening. Cut shortening in with a large fork or pastry cutter. Add buttermilk and stir to combine. With your hands, work dough into a smooth ball. Place dough in the middle of your griddle then press down to flatten. Use Old Country Kitchenware Stainless Steel Spatula to cut dough into squares. Brush buttermilk on top of dough. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
